Understand the Inbox tab’s unread staff-request count
See why the browser tab calls for attention and when its count clears.
Before you begin
Open the staff profile menu and choose Notifications. Browser permission, Corthex preferences, your availability and your computer’s sound settings are separate controls.
Step by step
- 1
Keep Inbox open
The Inbox tab title is Inbox when there are no unread staff requests. A count such as (2) Inbox means two conversations have an unread explicit staff request or contact-form submission.
- 2
Interpret the scope
The count is workspace-wide, independently of your current filters. Normal messages, assigned chats and external direct messages do not add to it merely because they are unanswered.
- 3
Open the request
Opening and acknowledging the request clears its unread tab indicator. An ordinary follow-up message does not restart this counter; a new explicit staff request does. You should still reply or finish the session as appropriate.
- 4
Check other pending work
If the count remains, clear filters and inspect other support conversations. In a background tab, the title can alternate to draw attention.
Good to know
A title count is an attention aid, not a guarantee that the browser will show a taskbar badge. Browser rendering and platform behavior differ.
Check the result
Use the test controls on the actual computer and speaker you work with. Test a relevant new staff request with Corthex in another tab.
Questions & troubleshooting
I opened the request but the count stays
Keep the conversation selected in a visible, focused Inbox tab so its acknowledgment can be saved. Check for another unread staff request elsewhere in the workspace; an unseen request still counts even if hidden by your current filters.
