Step by step

  1. 1

    Open separate contexts

Keep the Corthex staff dashboard in one browser window and the website widget in a private window or separate browser profile.

  2. 2

    Send a distinctive question

Use a harmless test message that is easy to find. Confirm it appears under the expected agent in Inbox.

  3. 3

    Request and take over

Ask for a person, open the request and choose Takeover. Confirm the AI stops competing with the staff response.

  4. 4

    Reply with the widget closed

Close the visitor’s floating messenger, send a staff reply and check the message preview and unread badge. Click the preview to reopen Chat.

  5. 5

    Finish the test

Resume the AI if further automated support is expected, or close the conversation when the issue is complete.

Good to know

Private windows separate visitor session state. Avoid using real customer details or payment data in tests.

Check the result

Complete a test from your public website and check the resulting conversation in Inbox before inviting customers.

Questions & troubleshooting

Why is the same old conversation opening?

The widget resumes the current browser session. Start a new conversation or use another browser context for a fresh visitor.
