Enable commerce tools for the correct agent
Connect store access, agent-level capabilities and workflow restrictions deliberately.
Before you begin
Open workspace Settings and select Connections or Messaging as appropriate. Use an account authorised to connect the external business or store.
Step by step
- 1
Check the store connection
Confirm the authorised integration belongs to the current workspace and the intended store.
- 2
Enable the agent capability
Use the commerce/tool setting for this agent and save. An existing workspace connection does not automatically mean every agent may use every action.
- 3
Review narrower restrictions
Check the general tool settings and any matching workflow that disables tools or changes routing.
- 4
Test read-only lookups first
Use a known product/category and compare the returned values with the store. Test unavailable data and customer-specific requests separately.
Good to know
Tool availability does not bypass business permissions or identity checks. Do not promise a refund or order change unless a supported authorised process actually performs it.
Check the result
Verify the connection status, correct agent assignment and one complete test in the external channel. External permissions and delivery rules still apply.
Questions & troubleshooting
The connection works but the agent never uses it
Compare agent assignment, commerce enablement, tool permissions and matched workflow restrictions. Inspect the actual tool trace where available.
