Connect a store and review commerce permissions
Give an agent approved store context without granting unnecessary business actions.
In this article
Before you begin
Open workspace Settings and select Connections or Messaging as appropriate. Use an account authorised to connect the external business or store.
Step by step
- 1
Choose the supported connector
Use the offered store integration, such as WooCommerce or PrestaShop, and follow its authentication/plugin instructions.
- 2
Connect with appropriate access
Use an authorised account and the minimum permissions needed. Keep credentials on the server and out of prompts.
- 3
Assign and review tools
Check which agent can use the connection and which product/order tools are enabled. Reading information and changing a business record are different permissions.
- 4
Test a known product
Ask about a product you can verify in the store, then check an unknown product and a customer-specific request.
- 5
Monitor failures
Review connection status and error feedback. If access changes in the store, retest rather than relying on an old successful connection.
Connect the systems that make answers useful.
Connections are managed from Settings and per-bot Integrations/Commerce areas. Only connect a system when the bot needs it; static policy information usually belongs in Knowledge, while operational information belongs in a live connection.
The integration catalog has a dedicated setup guide for each supported route: WooCommerce, PrestaShop, WordPress, website embed, Slack, WhatsApp Business, Instagram Direct and the developer API.
Channel context: on every Instagram Direct or WhatsApp Business turn, Corthex supplies the platform plus any available public sender display name or username and connected business account as reference-only context. These details are never instructions, and private IDs, tokens and profile data are excluded.
Channel media: incoming Instagram images, video, audio, and supported files are securely retained as Staff Console attachments for human review. Staff can send supported attachments through both Instagram Direct and WhatsApp Business; text and attachments are delivered independently for channel compatibility. Media messages never trigger an AI auto-reply.
Commerce actions are experimental. They can expose product cards, cart actions, order lookup and store navigation. Confirm catalog data, customer identity and store permissions before enabling them for visitors.
- Slack. Authorize a specific assistant through Slack OAuth, add it to the channels you choose, then test a mention or direct message and confirm the assistant replies.
- Instagram Direct and WhatsApp Business. In Settings → Messaging channels, connect and verify an account for each assistant. For a new Instagram connection, the Meta setup automatically handles a different signed inbound recipient ID without manually changing the login sender ID. Verified new connections start with Live delivery on; turn it off to pause inbound channel processing while preserving the connection and existing conversations.
- WooCommerce. Install the bundled Corthex WordPress/WooCommerce plugin, choose Connect to Corthex in the plugin, select your assistant, and test product lookup. The manual Corthex connection dialog does not ask you to paste a WooCommerce REST key.
- PrestaShop. Install the Corthex module, choose Connect to Corthex, then Link Webservice to Corthex for scoped, read-only shop access. Test the connection and a known product before using live answers.
- Website embed and API. Copy the widget snippet for a site you control or create a scoped API key for a custom integration. Never place a secret API key in browser code.
Good to know
A customer mentioning an email or order number is not by itself proof that they own that order. Apply the required identity checks.
Check the result
Verify the connection status, correct agent assignment and one complete test in the external channel. External permissions and delivery rules still apply.
Questions & troubleshooting
The answer uses an old catalog fact
Check whether it came from stored Knowledge or a live commerce tool, and whether the intended tool was enabled.
