Test a workflow before publishing

Use decision traces and customer previews, then verify delivery in a real channel.

Where to find itWorkflow editor → Test

Before you begin

Step by step

  1. 1

    Prepare expected results

Write down which branch and action should run for each scenario before pressing Test.

  2. 2

    Enter representative context

Supply the supported page, message, contact and history inputs. Include the minimal data required by the trigger.

  3. 3

    Read the trace

Inspect matched conditions, skipped branches and action validation. A successful test should have an understandable reason.

  4. 4

    Inspect the customer preview

Check copy, form fields and layout. Try missing or invalid inputs and a visitor who does not qualify.

  5. 5

    Verify after publishing

Run one real visitor/channel test with the assigned agent. Simulation validates logic; the real test checks permissions, embedding and delivery.

Good to know

Do not use production customer secrets in test inputs. AI test decisions can still involve configured providers and usage.

Check the result

Test matching, non-matching and missing-data cases. Review the publication, publish the steps and save the intended agent assignments.

Questions & troubleshooting

A test passes but production does not

Compare actual event inputs, publication, assignment, channel support and provider configuration with the simulated case.
