Step by step

  1. 1

    Choose the customer language

In Branding, set Language to the intended visitor locale. Match it to the audience for this agent.

  2. 2

    Review defaults

Standard labels and exact saved copies of built-in text follow the selected language. Fill defaults can populate the message fields; inspect them before saving.

  3. 3

    Review custom overrides

A manually filled text field can keep its existing wording. Update those labels deliberately instead of assuming the language selector translates every override.

  4. 4

    Save and test

Open a new public conversation and check the input placeholder, staff CTA, form validation, offline text and status notices.

Good to know

Dashboard language is a personal/workspace interface preference. It does not automatically translate the public widget or generated business answers.

Check the result

Save the change and reload a page that loads this agent. Check desktop and mobile, including text contrast and the collapsed launcher.

Questions & troubleshooting

Some labels remain in the old language

Look for custom text overrides and update or clear them. Check for a data-locale override in the installed script.
