Set the welcome message and suggested questions
Make the first chat interaction clear and give visitors useful ways to begin.
Before you begin
Open AI agents and select the agent you want to edit. Check its name and workspace before saving: other agents have their own settings.
Step by step
- 1
Write the welcome message
Use a short greeting that explains the assistant’s purpose. Avoid promising instant staff availability if your team is not always online.
- 2
Add suggested questions
Enter realistic questions a visitor can click, such as What are your return conditions? or Can someone help me choose a product?
- 3
Check language and knowledge
Use the public language of this agent and ensure the suggested questions can be answered from approved sources.
- 4
Save and try a new conversation
Open a fresh visitor session and click each suggestion. Check that it submits the intended question and produces a useful answer.
Good to know
A welcome message is different from a page-triggered invitation. Configure when to approach visitors through Workflows.
Check the result
Save, start a fresh test conversation and compare the answer with your approved business facts. Settings do not rewrite messages already sent.
Questions & troubleshooting
The welcome is missing in an old chat
Existing conversations may resume their history rather than show the new-chat welcome again. Test a new conversation.
