Install Corthex on a custom website
Add the floating messenger with the agent’s own embed snippet.
Before you begin
Activate the agent and open its integration/embed controls. You need permission to add the snippet to your website or configure the relevant plugin.
Step by step
- 1
Prepare the agent
Activate it, add Ready knowledge and test a basic answer. Set the public display name, icon and language before launch.
- 2
Copy its snippet
Open the agent’s embed controls and copy the script. The data-bot-id identifies this specific agent; it is not an API key.
- 3
Add it to the website
Insert the snippet once in the page template, normally before the closing body tag. Publish the change through your website’s normal deployment process.
- 4
Open the public page
Use a separate browser context, confirm the launcher appears and send a harmless test question.
- 5
Verify in Inbox
Find the conversation in the expected workspace and test a staff request. Check desktop, mobile and pages that use another layout.
<!-- Replace YOUR_BOT_ID with the ID from your agent’s snippet. -->
<script src="https://www.corthex.app/widget.js"
data-bot-id="YOUR_BOT_ID">
</script>Good to know
Do not paste a private workspace API key into website HTML. Avoid installing the same messenger through both a plugin and a manual snippet.
Check the result
Publish the website change, open the public page, send a test question and verify the correct conversation appears in the correct Corthex workspace.
Questions & troubleshooting
The launcher does not appear
Check the published HTML, active agent, bot ID, browser console/network and content blockers. A local website editor preview may behave differently from the published page.
